- KIPOnet established as a world class IP office automation system -
Commissioner Ho-won Kim of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced that KIPOnet, its comprehensive intellectual property office automation system, has received CMMI Level 4 certification.
Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a process improvement approach developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University and commissioned by the U.S. Department of Defense to evaluate the quality, maturity, and improvement of business processes.
After the complete renovation of the existing office automation system in January of this year, KIPO’s third generation KIPOnet system received CMMI Level 4 certification.
KIPOnet reached the second highest level of CMMI maturity signifying the consolidation of quantitative project management for software.
Director-General Hoon-suk Byun of KIPO’s Information Policy Bureau said, “KIPOnet’s CMMI Level 4 certification is a splendid achievement and internationally acknowledges our efforts to manage a world class IP office automation system. We will further improve our CMMI-based IT work processes to acquire top CMMI Level 5 certification in 2013.”
