IoT startup company that was established 3 years ago became Qualcomm’s strategic partner.
It is meaningful that it became one of only 5 partners that Qualcomm has and this will help in going after global markets since it will be able to do co-marketing with huge businesses in the world.
Daliworks (CEO Lee Soon-ho) made an announcement on the 9th that it succeeded in linking its IoT platform ‘Thing+’ to Qualcomm’s IoT Wi-Fi solution (QCA4002). This means that two separate equipments are now compatible and that Daliworks became Qualcomm’s partner for IoT.
Thing+, which is a IoT platform based on Cloud, sends information from IoT equipment to Cloud and supports entire process of putting information away in order and making it stylish. Current situations of IoT equipment that one installed in Smartphones or Tablet PCs can be seen very easily, and it also makes statistics. Qualcomm only has 5 partners including Daliworks in this field. CEO Lee Soon-ho said that Qualcomm had verified Thing+ for more than 3 months and that Daliworks is recognized of its technical levels from a global company.
Qualcomm has been focusing on IoT business since it bought Atheros, which manufacturers Wi-Fi chip, in 2011. Qualcomm’s ‘QCA4002’, which is linked to Daliworks, is a Wi-Fi communication module for IoT and helps IoT equipment to be easily connected to Wi-Fi while operating on low power. It is used for household appliances such as washing machines, ACs, boilers and others and Home IoT products such as Smart Plug, Smart Switch and others.
Daliworks was able to get an opportunity to expand its IoT business globally by working with Qualcomm and being able to do co-marketing. Qualcomm can introduce Daliworks’ products while it supplies its communication module to IoT equipment manufacturers. Daliworks became part of Qualcomm’s ‘IoT Ecosystem’ and it can make sales on it as soon as on the first day of 2016.
Daliworks that was established in 2013 started focusing on foreign markets from early on. By using Amazon’s Cloud service, it was able to have Thing+ to be used anywhere in the world. Due to this, it was able to manage an ice cream warehouse in Brazil from a small office in Chungmuro in Seoul. It even showed off its potential by penetrating French and Spanish markets one after the other with its own effort this year.
Daliworks was even recently awarded for Minister Prize by Ministry of Science, ICP and Future Planning at ICT Innovation Grand Prize. “We have prepared opportunities to expand our business with a global hardware manufacturer.” said CEO Lee Soon-ho. “We are going to make linked services with global IoT manufacturers that use Qualcomm’s communication modules.”
